Questions people ask.
General guideWhat is the difference between a shock and a strut?
Both damp the movement of the spring. A strut is also a structural part of the suspension, so replacing one can change the wheel alignment.
Is a clunk over bumps urgent?
It can be a sign that a joint or a mount has play in it. Parts such as ball joints and tie-rod ends hold the wheel in place, so the noise is worth finding soon.
Why would worn suspension wear out my tires?
Worn parts can let the wheel sit at the wrong angle or lose steady contact with the road, and the tread then wears unevenly.
Do I need an alignment after suspension work?
Often, yes. Replacing parts that set the position of the wheel changes its angles, and the alignment is usually checked afterwards.
